ES Notes December 2011

As 2011 draws to a close all of us at ES Industries would like to wish you a safe and Happy Holiday season and to take this opportunity to thank you our customers, colleagues and friends for your loyalty and patronage during 2011.

We look forward to providing you with more interesting and innovative applications during 2012.

In this final edition of 2011 we are including information on the new:

  • Epic PFP-LB 1.8um HPLC Columns which has elevated the Pentafluorophenyl (PFP) HPLC stationary phase to the next level of separation performance with enhanced retention for many compounds that contain polarizable electrons.
  • Epic C18 MS 1.8um Columns specifically engineered for the demands of LC-MS, providing superior retention even at high organic mobile phase levels and
  • The second part of the tutorial a Basic SFC Primer outlining the essential elements of SFC including the role of the stationary phase, column selection and sample considerations.

All designed to be technically informative and practically useful.

In this two part series we provide a Basic SFC Primer for the chromatographer. Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) has been utilized in various forms in the last 50 years and improvements in instrumentation and column technology have led to the growth of the technique over the last decade. This second part of this series will review the role of the stationary phase, column selection and sample considerations.

The R&D efforts at ES Industries have yielded a new HPLC column - Epic PFP-LB 1.8um. This development has elevated the Pentafluorophenyl (PFP) HPLC stationary phase to the next level of separation performance. Epic PFP-LB is a truly unique stationary phase with properties significantly different than ODS phases and produces an enhanced retention for many compounds particularly those that contain polarizable electrons. Many classes of compounds contain polarizable electrons including halogenated compounds, aromatics and conjugated systems. Several examples displaying the unique separation capabilities of Epic PFP-LB 1.8 um are shown.

Epic C18 MS 1.8 um provides superior retention even at high organic levels. Many LC-MS applications rely on high levels of organic modifier in the mobile phase, particularly for high performance trace analysis requiring high sensitivity and low level detection. conditions. Epic C18-MS 1.8 um is compatible with all LC-MS mobile phases and buffer systems. This column provides advanced high performance/high resolution LC-MS separations in a narrow bore short column formats.
