ES Notes August 2010

In this hot summer issue of ES Notes we would like to share with you some of the new products we have introduced recently including information on the new GreenSep PFP SFC stationary phase which has proven superior to conventional stationary phases in the area of superior performance for aromatic and halogenated compounds, Epic Hilic-HC Columns for difficult separations and the MacroSepTM C4 HPLC columns. All designed to be technically informative and practically useful.

Epic HILIC-HC (HC for high capacity) is a new stationary phase for HILIC chromatography.

It is composed of a polyhydroxylated polymer coated and bound to silica. This composition provides hydroxyl levels that are well above conventional hydroxyl and diol type stationary phases. Many of the commercially stationary phases used for HILIC chromatography are converted normal phase columns. These normal phase columns yield poor methods, poor separations and lack durability.

Epic HILIC-HC is specifically designed for HILIC chromatography and can achieve high performance separations, yield rugged methods and deliver long column life times. The chromatogram shown by clicking here highlights the unique capability for Epic HILIC-HC, in this chromatogram toluene is less retained than uracil.

One of the new phases in the GreenSep SFC product line is GreenSep PFP, a fluorinated aromatic stationary phase.

GreenSep PFP stationary phase has proven superior to conventional stationary phases (such as diol, cyano etc...) in the areas of separation selectivity, peak shape and loading capacity. The chromatogram shown by clicking here is a prime example of the superior performance obtainable with the Chromegabond PFP column with SFC for aromatic compounds.

GreenSep PFP is best suited to compounds containing aromatic groups and/or halogen groups. This stationary phase provides the SFC chromatographer with excellent tool for the separation geometrical aromatic isomer and diastereomers. More...

The MacroSep HPLC Column line is based upon ultra-high purity metal free silica containing highly controlled pores of 300Å diameter. MacroSep C4 consists of butyl aliphatic groups bonded to the surface of 300Å pore diameter ultra-high purity silica and may be employed for the separation of glycoproteins, peptides, hemoglobin variants, human growth hormone and membrane proteins.

All of the MacroSep phases undergo extensive QC testing to ensure consistent column to column performance. Tightly controlled pore size and particle size distribution lead to extremely durable columns with low back pressure and long lifetimes. Our ultra-high purity silica is carefully analyzed to ensure that it remains free from any metal contamination through the entire manufacturing process. More...
